The U.S. Navy has officially acknowledged the existence of a new air-to-air weapon. It’s an air-launched version of the ship-launched SM-6. Designated the AIM-174, it’s carried by the FA-18 Super Hornet. It was developed to counter any Communist Chinese capabilities. It has a longer-range than any air-to-air missile that the U.S. currently deploys.
