Free speech in The United States is in peril.
Far left-wing U.S. Supreme Court Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson led the court’s defense of the Biden administration’s attempt to curb the right of Americans to exercise their free speech under the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
The Biden administration’s attempt to influence big social media companies into silencing the rights of Americans is the antithesis of the 1st Amendment. This attempt to silence the free speech of Americans occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is when government officials tried to browbeat social media companies to censor what the government called misinformation. In other words, this was information that the government disliked and didn’t want to be made public. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky said,
“Today, SCOTUS heard Murthy v. Missouri, the most consequential free speech case in U.S. history. This isn’t just about social media companies; it’s a critical examination of government overreach. The Biden administration’s efforts to influence Big Tech into silencing dissent tramples on the 1st Amendment. Our focus must be on preventing government censorship, not compelling private entities to act as censors. This case could redefine our free speech.”
Elon Musk owner of X, formerly known as Twitter said,
“Free speech is meaningless unless you allow people you don’t like to say things you don’t like. Otherwise, it’s irrelevant.” He warned, “And at the point at which you lose free speech—it doesn’t come back.”
It’s apparent that one of the biggest Supreme Court cases in American history will decide the fate of the nation. The five freedoms that the First Amendment protects is: speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government.
The Daily Spanker.news supports the right for any person to exercise their First Amendment right to free speech.
